Fire Rescue Victoria

The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) delivers the Written Selection Test (WST) on behalf of Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV). Eligible applicants are invited to sit the test by FRV and receive an invitation to register for the test via the ACER portal.

ACER conducts the WST at multiple test centres across Victoria, with computer-based tests offered during specific dates.

Various session times are available depending on location, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.If you cannot attend a local venue, ACER also offers the WST online via remote proctoring, allowing you to take the test from home under live webcam supervision.

All applicants for the test must first register with FRV.

Your invitation to complete the WST from FRV will include a link to the ACER Portal and a timeline for completing your registration.

Booking is completed online through the ACER portal.

ACER does not accept any requests to book the WST from members of the public.

The fee to sit the WST is $238 (gst incl) paid directly to ACER.

Test format

The WST is a 2 hour and 5 minute online assessment. Each of the four components is scored and timed separately.
